Is Bella-Dura™ environmentally friendly?
Of all the synthetic fibers, Bella-Dura™ is the most environmentally friendly! Compared to other synthetics, Bella-Dura™ yarns require less energy to produce and do not create harmful industrial waste during production. Coatings and stain resistant finishes are not necessary in the fabric processing, since the inert fiber has inherent stain resistant and anti-microbial properties.
Is Bella-Dura™ Drapery flame retardant?
Bella-Dura™ Drapery is inherently flame retardant (meaning the FR characteristics are in the fiber, not added on as a finish) and passes NFPA-701.
Is Bella-Dura™ certified to be Green?
Bella-Dura™ fabrics are certified as Silver by MBDC and carry the Cradle to Cradle™ classification.
Can Bella-Dura™ fabrics be recycled?
Bella-Dura™ fabrics are 100% recyclable! The proprietary fiber can be re-extruded up to ten times, and fabrics can be returned to Bainbridge, Georgia for the reclamation program by the yarn vendor. Please visit the recycling section to download the proper form and instructions.
Will Bella-Dura™ fabrics fade?
Bella Dura™ fabrics are made from 100% solution dyed yarns, and meet or exceed 1500 hours lightfastness in accordance with AATCC 16, the industry standard test for lightfastness.
What does “solution dyed” mean?
Solution dyeing means that color is added to the fibers while they are in a liquid state during the yarn manufacturing process. The color is integrated into the very fiber, which is why the fabric can be cleaned with bleach and still retain the color. Think of the analogy of a carrot and a radish; the color in the carrot is throughout, while the color on the radish lies on the outer surface. The carrot would represent a solution dyed fiber.
How do I clean Bella-Dura™ Drapery?
A mild soap and water solution is all that is needed to remove most stains; bleach can also be used on tough stains. Always rinse with clean water and allow to air dry. Please refer to the “Care Instructions” section for more detailed information.
Is there anything I should not use on Bella-Dura™?
Any cleaning product that can be used on outdoor fabrics is safe to use on Bella-Dura™, as well as bleach for tough stains. Always take great care when mixing cleaners with bleach, and work in a well ventilated area.
How should Bella-Dura™ Drapery be dried?
Bella-Dura™ fabrics are woven with fibers that dry easily. Bella-Dura™ fabrics should always be air-dried, and never tumble-dried.
Will Bella-Dura™ fabrics mildew?
Bella-Dura™ fabrics are inherently anti-microbial and will not mildew. In addition to the inherent properties, with a special additive in the proprietary Bella-Dura™ yarns, the growth of mildew is prevented. To achieve the best results, always keep your Bella-Dura™ fabrics clean.
Are the fabrics tested for industry compliance?
All fabrics are tested for compliance to industry standards for physical performance, stain resistance, and fading. Additionally, Bella-Dura™ drapery has been tested to pass various fire codes for drapery applications.
Is there a warranty with Bella-Dura™?
Bella-Dura™ fabrics are covered with a 5-year residential / 2-year commercial warranty for stain resistance and colorfastness to water, light and crocking (transfer of color to other fabrics) and mildew.
